Repairs, repairs, repairs!

Forked out over RM2K today.

RM650!

First was the alternator on my truck decided to give up the ghost. That cost me RM200 for a new battery. Fine but then replacing the alternator cost something altogether different. Since I’ll be going to an Orang Asli village end of March for charity and all, I figured I’ll fix my erratic 4×4 transfer case which randomly decides to refuse to get into 4×4 mode or after a while stop sending power to the front wheels.
That kind of put a damper on my plans. I thought of buying myself a birthday pressie! Another red-ring! A lens that is. I’ve already sold my EF28-135 so I figured the EF24-105L will do nicely for my upcoming US trip and perhaps the wedding I’ve to cover first week of March. Shucks. To buy or not to buy?

A birthday pressie for myself?

A horrid week

Sorry for the lack of photos and other updates.
Someone asked about the title a few days ago, Flogging a dying horse. Well, I sort of have been down with a bad case of stomach flu this week. Made worse by work and having to drink lots of caffeine and milk (well, I’m not overly fond of black coffee), both which are no-no’s if you’re down with stomach flu. Good thing no vomiting. Frequent trips to the throne don’t make things easier. I actually feel like going home now and sleeping till the weekend starts… oh wait, it actually starts this evening!

End of an era

Well, after 8 years, and 10 months, I’ll be leaving my current position in Hewlett-Packard and moving on. It’s kinda of interesting to look back while I was working, it was a burgundy brick company called Digital Equipment Corporation… My, how things have changed…

Flogging a dying horse?

The most terrible week at work.
It’s like they realize they won’t be having me anymore so it’s time to wring maximum benefit.
Sometimes, it’s not their fault I know. It’s caused by this evil customer we have. *sigh*

So much for the fourteenth…

Almost every news website I visit seems to have some an item about Valentines. The local florist here at SS2 jacked the price of sunflowers up like 33%. I wonder how many people are having dinner tonight, buying high-priced, fixed menus, splurging on chocolates and other fancy cuddlies in hope that they can score or end up in bed? Hmmm. Makes one wonder does it. Of course. Today, at work, a delivery guy came in with a bunch of flowers for a co-worker. Of course that was a nice touch no doubt. My gripe is more towards what’s so special about the fourteenth?

I don’t know about you, but is love all about having a great time, good food, flowers and chocolate? If you think that, then I think you’ll be terribly dissapointed. Love is not just an emotion, on the contrary. It is much more than that. It’s also committment and responsibility, honor and respect. Do you love someone more on their birthdays, anniversaries or valentine’s day? Love is 24×7, 365 days (plus leap year days too). You can go buy your flowers and chocolates if you want, me, I’m going to hug my baby and tell her that she’s the most amazing, delicious person on this earth and how much I love her. And I’ll be doing that more often than just valentine’s.

(BTW, Have you seen how your flowers will look after day four? And you know that chocolate, despite being food for love, will go to her hips? :D)

~ 1 John 4:19

As the sun sets by a lake

Sunset by Inle Lake, Burma

A man sat by himself, silently in prayer.
“Dear Jesus, you know how much I love her.
You know how wonderful she is. Of course you do. You made her, every cell, every attribute, meticulously made. The problem is I can’t go further.”
    Why not?
“The past hurts, pains and anguish.”
Then let me have it. When you cannot carry all that, I will carry it for you.
“It has been so long since I’ve loved anyone. I don’t know if I could…”
Then love her the way I love you. And I will show you how.
