Due to WA’s non-profit nature, it’s not a free lunch!

IBM blood bath – 10000 gone!

From CNet : “As a big part of the effort, Big Blue will institute a series of changes in its operations, including planned layoffs of between 10,000 and 13,000 employees, the company said Wednesday. The brunt of those changes are planned for its European operations.” Read more here.
I wonder when a famous printer maker will start restructuring too and I wonder if I’ll get VSS’ed!

No diesel!

What a stupid morning. Of course it’s Wednesday but imagine waking up a bit late (due to over-snoozing the alarm clock) and then realizing that you have to visit three stations to fill up. The first two stations had a big yellow sign on every diesel pump that says “Kuota Diesel habis” or basically, they’ve run out of diesel fuel and their quota’s exhausted. Silly subsidy and road tax scheme is the big cause. I say drop the subsidies and the road tax to gasoline levels and this won’t happen.

The Star has quite a few articles…
Diesel shortage
Search for supply can be long and futile

LT Here I come

It’s Saturday finally. Considering the long week, Saturday took a long time in arriving. A super-filled day with lots of activities, some of which involve quite a bit of muscle work, and delivery. Then it’s off for last minute shopping in 1 Utama for more food for my upcoming trip. A fun-filled day but it’s time to pack. Better not be forgetting stuff! Anyway, no entries for the next four days as I’ll be soaking it up in Lang Tengah island with the sand, sea and surf. Not to mention corals and lots of snorkeling to do.

Oh how the weekend dissappears

You know, if I know the reason why a 48-hour weekend vanishes in about three hours, I’ll be rich.
It just does. Woke up to a most gray of Mondays, with the rain pouring down and the highways clogged with innumerous traffic accidents and being late for work. What a fantastic start to the week. Difference. That’s what it is. An imbalance of expectations or status. Everyone complains about Monday, how terrible it is, how manic or black it is but it’s at its worse when you’ve had a great weekend. So either my weekends have gotten a lot better or my weekdays have gotten a lot worse. I think both.

Affordable Home NAS (was on the Cheap)

Disk Station DS-101If you’ve made the move to Digital Photography, one thing is for sure: You need storage space, in fact, quite a bit of disk space. I mean DVDs are fine and all but you’d normally prefer to have instant access to your images so storing them on a hard disk is a must. Enter the Synology Disk Station DS-101 Network Attached Storage or NAS. Available in Malaysia for around RM800 ∗ RM1200 ∗ update without a disk, it’s single internal drive bay and three USB ports allows you to share your disks easily and without the burden of another PC. With quite a few features including auto-backup, it does make quite an attractive storage solution for little money. Throw in a 200Gb disk and you’ve got quite an attractive storage device cheaper than buying and running a separate PC.
