And unfortunately, at USD799. A pity. A USD599 price would be just sweet! The specs however are fantastic and you can see Phil Askey of DPReview take the camera around Vegas here. The results are just what I want in a compact camera!

PMA In two weeks…
PMA, the Photo Marketing Association Expo. Las Vegas. January 31st to February 2nd, 2008. What’s to expect? Well, the Nikon-Canon DSLR battle just got wilder with Sony jumping into the fray. All in all, it’s all good for us users and expect the tussle to result in better cams and lower prices. Who’s complaining? So far, just two over weeks into 2008 and we already have:
= Sony A200 DSLR (preorder)
= Casio EX F1 60fps 12X w/RAW
= Nine Kodak cameras + C813
= Four Samsung NV-series and some more
= Four new Casio Exilim compacts
= The Megapixel Wars continue, unfortunately. Everyone knows I prefer image quality over two extra MegaPixels…

Camera Raw 4.3
After Canon mucked up their EOS-40D firmware at version 1.0.4 (we’re still waiting for 1.0.5), Adobe comes to the rescue with a quick fix on Camera Raw 4.3. Yes of course there’s more changes that just making it read slightly flawed 40D raw files (only from 40D’s with 1.0.4 firmware), it includes support for cameras I can’t afford like the 1Ds-Mark III. It does add support to Canon’s sRAW format but I don’t have an sRAW file right now to test. Download the new Camera Raw over here.
