The mega-pixel mega-myth

More pixels equals squat if you don’t have a good sensor, and more importantly, a good lens in front of it all. Sharp has recently announced an 8 Megapixel compact sensor – this thing is tiny folks and you know you’ve been complaining about noise, even at low ISO settings on that little 7-megapixel compact camera? Well, I doubt this is good news!

I guess this reminds me of a interesting comic strip which is fast becoming my favorite…

Thirteen thousand

Two thousand and Six. 13,217 frames later, Ninety-eight point five gigabytes of photos. That’s 367 rolls of film (if you still use that stuff)!! And no upgrades, no new cameras in 2006. Nada. Yet, the sentimental part of me will say that every frame was a journey, a step somewhere, in my garden or some place else. I realize it’s always a journey, even though it’s just at home. The journey of life, one step or one shutter click at a time. Savor the moment. Capture it. But, just as importantly, know when you just need to live and experience the journey without the camera. Just go with the flow, participate and not observe with a lens. Be courageous and step on the other side. Happy Happy New Year 2007 everyone!

Avoid Red Eye

The LiveScience website reports that an Australian physicist has calculated the number of photos of a group that need to be taken to ensure at least one frame that’s free of blinking.

“For groups of less than 20 people, divide the number of people in the group by 3 if the light is good or by 2 if the light is bad,” Barnes told LiveScience. “Take that number of shots and you will have a better than 95 percent chance of getting at least one good one.”

No wrong that cannot be redeemed

No matter how hard we try, we cannot be perfect. Yet, in our weakness and wrong, God will not turn you away.
