Lots to give thanks for

Thanksgiving has been my favorite holiday ever since I was in the US. Minus the black Friday sales, all the commercialization of most festivals in the US, the Christmas shopping season begins and all that.

To me, I love Thanksgiving because it’s a time to appreciate what we have. Most Americans celebrate Thanksgiving with their families. That is also one thing I’m always grateful for. I remember my first Thanksgiving as a student in the US having my own cooked steak and mash potatoes by myself as all the Americans had gone home to be with their families.

This year, I’m thankful for the families (my own and my extended) I have – I won’t trade these people for anything. I’m thankful for all that I have, both material and immaterial blessings. I’m also grateful and thankful for the friends I have.

Most of all, I’m grateful to my amazing, one like no one wife for giving me the chance to take risks, to really pursue what I really love and believe in. I’m thankful for each day I have to spend with her and now with little Jayden who’s growing up fast. When I wake up in the morning and as the sun streams through the windows, I am truly blessed to have them as part of my life.

Of course, at the end of all, I give thanks to God, my heavenly father and savior from whom all things come from.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

What a year 2008 was!

Last night, I had a couple of friends over to my little box in the sky. It was a small party, only a total of 9 people but it was fun. We had lots of good home cooked food, dessert galore including strawberry crumble and a nice cake. We played taboo (the card game) till about 11:45pm when some early-fused fireworks over at 1-Utama or the Curve started going off. Unfortunately this year, the office tower under construction has blocked our view of the 1U/Curve fireworks but we still were treated to quite a few other spectacular firework displays from Tropicana to Summit and Sunway.

As we also had a good view of the LDP from our living room window, it’s nice to be at a cozy place, chilling out with friends compared to a cramped car, stuck in traffic trying to get to 1U or the Curve. Of course at 12:30am, the traffic snarl was in reverse direction.

Looking back at 2008, well, there has been a whole bunch of unexpected events, many of them were unpleasant and unwelcome but there is a heap of of stuff to be thankful for. From things like health and well-being to having the love of my mind, heart and soul always beside me. From Family to great friends, the support of whom is so important. Above all, is God’s amazing faithfulness and mercy, without which this year will be a disaster. Every step of the way, God has been with us, keeping us safe to make true his promises. There were rough patches but when you look back, God has been there, always and will always be there to see us through. So, yes, 2008 was absolutely fantastic. 2009 will be wonderful because soon, I’ll be moving into the home that the Lord has promised three years ago.

Happy New Year 2009 everybody.

A Thanksgiving Night

Give Thanks to the Lord, for His Love endures forever.
So much to be thankful for this year. For life, health, friends, and most of all, my most precious darling, the one my heart loves.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Hope, Faith and Love

icon_ltgray_open_quoteThe Lord God almighty is my refuge and my strength.
In my greatest failings, He is my recovery;
In the lost of trust, He is the rock of steadfast love;
In faithfulness abandoned, He is forever faithful.
In my wicked ways, He is always good and full of grace.
In all things He has given beyond measure, beyond expectation;
Beyond dreams and imagination, totally undeserving.
Beyond all hopes and dreams, He has given.
For in this matter, the work of my hands are but naught;
But in His abundant love, grace and mercy;
Poured out till overflowing, the only thing I cannot give.
Salvation to the one I love more than life itself.

Saturday and the greatest gift…

icon_ltgray_open_quoteFor it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.icon_ltgray_close_quote

The gift that no one else can give. The gift of life eternal.
Oh darling, my precious, the one I love. My heart rejoices and tears of joy are overwhelming. Beyond words, beyond anything, it is pure happiness.

12053 days… 289272 hours, 17356320 minutes, and … 1041379200 seconds.
A lot of time passed, yet, it is time to give thanks to:

God, through whom all things are possible.
My saviour, my friend, my comforter, my teacher and my guide.
As the Lord says in Psalms 23, He is my shepherd, I shall lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Dad and Mom
Who taught me how to live, and in all things, showed me how to love. They shaped me and moulded me and had only my best in their mind. Thanks is all I can say though it be nothing compared to what you have done, for there is nothing that I can give, that will equal what you have given.

My Darling Mun Leng
She is my evidence of God’s ultimate goodness and grace. She makes me feel so ashamed that I asked God for so little though at that time, I thought I asked for the world. It’s like you asked for the world which in the end when God answers your prayers, you realized that God has given you more than a Queen when all your prayers have amounted to nothing more than a servant girl. Like no other, more precious than life itself. Thank you darling for being who you are, being there for me and being you.
Sixty queens there may be, and eighty concubines, and virgins beyond number; but my dove, my perfect one, is unique.

My Cousin Alice
For all the times, the letters, the emails, the silly stuff we did. You don’t know how much I appreciate, and remember those times. Life has sent us down different places and paths, yet I still remember when we did all the batty things and just lived life to its fullest. You’re like the sister I never had and there’s so much we’ve shared and will continue to share.

Kong Weng
For all the times I called you up and asked you silly questions and scenarios. For all the advice you have given and the time you’ve spent. Uncertainties you’ve made clear, your prayers are appreciated and they’ve helped and most of all, truly am I blessed to call you friend.

For all the trips, the shutter clicks and mirror slaps, the miles and the airports. For the lines of PHP code and WebAperture. From Low Yat trips to the tentacle-thingy, film rolls, digital cameras, megabytes to gigabytes. ‘L’ lenses and EOS. Just to say I appreciate the fellowship and the blessing you have been to my life.
