The Technical Image Press association (TIPA) has recently announced their European Photo and Imaging Awards 2005. You can see the winners here. Some winners below:
-Best consumer D-SLR: Canon EOS-350D
-Best Professional D-SLR: Canon EOS-1Ds MkII
-Best Photo software: Adobe Photoshop CS2 (btw, I don’t think any other product won before ever!)
-Best Mobile imaging device: Sony Ericsson K750i
-Best Storage media: Sandisk Extreme III
-Best Photo printer: Epson Stylus Photo R1800

Well, after more deliberation and discussion, my parents finally picked the Ixus 40 (or SD300 over in North America) over the Powershot A520. There’s a review of the Ixus 40 over at DPReview. The only drawback for this camera I think is it’s poorer battery life (compared to the other Canon’s I’ve known and used).

Canon (Europe) CPS newletter #12 is out. There are articles on metadata (EXIF, IPTC etc) stored with digital files, the WFT-E1 wireless system and studio photography as well as several photo essays and other articles. There are two interesting articles this time; EXIF, IPTC and other four-letter words and Shooting product photos with digital.

Canon Professional Services (CPS) Europe’s latest issue has some interesting articles. Two of which I’ll highlight here. One is going back to the basics of Photography – Black and White, or more correctly, monochrome. It’s also a short tutorial on converting color images to B&W. Read it here. Another interesting read is the article on image sharpness, resolution and scaling. It provides some insight about the printing industry in general. Take a look here.
