The problem with cheap RAM nowadays is that unless you’re running a 64-bit OS, you’re out of luck. Unlike other operating systems, Windows has the problem of size when going 64-bit. Size as in the sheer amount of esoteric hardware and installed base and a whole bunch of low-cost hardware manufacturers who have problems updating drivers. Heck, even large companies like HP and nVidia have problems with their 64-bit drivers. Anyways, the situation today is slightly better and I’ve already three 64-bit systems at home so, if you’re wondering about 64-bit, better now than later, plus if you’re using Photoshop CS4… it’s 64-bit aware so.
